WHAT IS THE “AGENTS OF CHANGE” SCHOOL?
The school for civic and voluntary participation and patriotic education «Agents of Change» unites active teenagers aged 13-17 years (students in grades 8-10) from all over Ukraine, who want to create and develop their own initiatives to improve the life of their community in the current Ukrainian realities. The school operates in partnership with the Center of UNESCO NC “Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine”.
Our School is the first all-Ukrainian project for teenagers in Ukraine, the purpose of which is to educate the civic consciousness through informal interactive learning. It was founded in 2015 by psychologist Kliuzko Kateryna.
WHO ARE THE “AGENTS OF CHANGE”?
We coined the term «teen agent of change» at our school. It means a teenager who can influence the development of his society, create unions with peers to implement socially significant projects and ideas or solve problems at the local level.
The theoretical basis for the development of the «Agents of Change» School is the theory of learning by doing developed by John Dewey. Learning by doing method means the process of gaining knowledge, abilities and skills during practical activities.
School’s training results in the implementation of a social, environmental or cultural and artistic projects in the students’ locality. Such projects can be a festival for the city, the publication of student’s own book or the launch of a business, a board game, a series of trainings and other change-provoking dreams.

FIND OUT ABOUT TEACHING PROCESS IN THE SCHOOL
Each student in the “Agents of Change” School acquires a set of knowledge, abilities, skills and other competencies in the process of training on a program that can be identified, quantified and measured. Our course includes both the development of students’ civic competencies and soft-skills through the interactive learning technologies and various means and methods to obtain new knowledge, develop social and personal competencies, form or reconsider one’s own viewpoints.

Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is an educational system, providing organization and coordination of research activities of students, creates conditions for their intellectual, spiritual, creative development and professional self-determination, contributes to building the country’s scientific capacity.
In 2016, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine approved the project of Kliuzko Kateryna «The school of civic activity and voluntary participation «Agents of Change» as one of the directions of extracurricular education within the All-Ukrainian scientific profession-oriented schools of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Since then, the number of participants has increased. The program, together with specialists from partner organizations, has expanded to three-day sessions in four stages during the year, supplemented by remote tasks and mentoring by the coaches. Since 2016, the National Center “Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine» together with the Youth Initiative “Heart in Hand Palms” (“Sertse v dolonkakh”), the Centre for Political Studies and Analysis “Eidos” and the “Agents of Change” Charity Foundation led by Kliuzko Kateryna implement the “Agents of Change” School.
The project is implemented by NC “Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” together with the Youth Initiative “Heart in Hand Palms”, the “Agents of Change” Charity Foundation and the Center of Political Studies and Analysis “Eidos”.
